Thank you from BILD’S regular members to all our guest bloggers and faithful readers over the past academic year! As always around this time, we are pausing in our posting schedule—our mostly Montreal-based membership will be taking full advantage of our short summer, and of the many outdoor opportunities now available for our still slightly pandemic-leery populace. Pandemic restrictions have been eased all across Canada, but it’s still safer to gather outdoors than indoors; we urge our readers to continue to exercise caution in their congregating.

We will be back with another nine months of regular blog posts in September. In the meantime, we hope you will peruse current and older issues of our journal, J-BILD, and follow us on https://www.facebook.com/bildlida . Also, we take this opportunity to remind the BILD community near and far that in late August, we will once again be drawing on the energies of BILD members to support the Multidisciplinary Approaches in Language Policy and Planning (“LPP”) conference. After our successful venture into all-online conference organization in August 2021 (see last year’s program, here) we are in the throes of putting together the first-ever hybrid LPP conference. This year’s conference will take place on August 25-26-27; please check the website for updates. Scroll down for more information about our stellar lineup of plenary speakers.

Our conference theme for 2022 is Language Policy, Linguistic Human Rights, and Cultural Genocide; LPP2022 registration is now open. The Early Bird registration period ends on June 30th. For more information on registration and fees, click here.

LPP2022 conference participants have the option of attending online or in person. We are doing our best to make sure that your conference experience will be very similar, whichever modality you choose. Come and join us! We look forward to telling you how it went when we start regular posting again in September.

Stay safe, well and happy until then.
