Welcome back to a new academic year with all of us at BILD / LIDA! We start regular blog posting next Sunday, September 20. In the three months that have elapsed since our last post, we have all learned to live more carefully, and perhaps also with more attention paid to the little things that matter. BILD has continued to expand its membership and to start new projects—we’ll be telling you more about those over the course of the next few weeks and months. Because of COVID-19 we were not able to go ahead with hosting the Multidisciplinary Approaches in Language Policy and Planning Conference at McGill in August 2020, but plans are in progress for the 2021 conference—we’ll be telling you more about that too. The editors of the Journal of Belonging, Identity, Language and Diversity (J-BILD) are hard at work on the fall 2020 and spring 2021 issues—we think you will enjoy them.
In the meantime—stay safe (it’s the watchword of the decade), take care of yourselves and each other, and try to live outside as much as possible. As diverse users of language, we have many opportunities to burst out of the confines of a computer screen.
