Peacefully pausing in mid-pandemic

The BILD blog is taking a two-week break in which our members will gather their forces for the months ahead, though most other kinds of gathering will remain off limits for many weeks to come. Regular posting begins again on January 10, 2021.

All of us at BILD wish you a peaceful pause between two tumultuous and uncertain years. What is certain is that we will all continue to learn about our capacities for resilience, optimism and survival. BILD members and guest bloggers will also continue to reflect on and to share our experiences relating to belonging, identity, language and diversity in pandemic times—among many other topics—as we have been since the first days of coronaviral lockdown in March of this year.

We will also keep our readers updated on preparations for LPP2021, the Multidisciplinary Approaches in Language Policy and Planning Conference, to be hosted online in late August 2021 by members of the BILD group and others through McGill University’s Faculty of Education. Abstract submission is open for two more months—you can find more information here.

And our journal, J-BILD, which has been open-access online since its beginnings in 2017, will bring out several exciting issues in the coming year.

For those of us in this part of the world, the path through the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic lies through winter. We hope our readers, wherever in the world they find themselves, will reach out to find the courage and the community they need to get through the challenging times ahead. There will be a new dawn.

We’ll see you on the other side of the New Year—please have as festive and carefree a time as you safely can!
